Neuroscientist & Researcher

Elisabeth Sinowjewa: Exploring the Living Brain

I want to help turn discoveries about the brain into treatments for patients. My research spans Alzheimer’s disease, stroke and hearing, combining preclinical models with clinical neuroscience. I am particularly interested in translational science and the opportunity to contribute to innovative therapeutic development within the biotechnology industry.

About me

Curious about the most complex structure in the known universe.

I am a neuroscientist working at the intersection of preclinical and translational research, with a focus on neurodegeneration, therapeutic antibodies, and in vivo imaging. My research interests span disease mechanisms, animal models, two-photon microscopy, molecular biology, and clinical neuroscience, with the broader goal of advancing our understanding of neurological disorders and supporting the development of novel therapies.

Beyond the lab, I am passionate about advancing scientific discovery and translating research into innovative therapies that can make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives.

Areas of focus

Cellular

Alzheimer’s, Antibodies & Microglia

How a new treatment with monoclonal antibodies affects penetration of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and contributes to new immunotherapies.

Systems

Brain Signals & Plasticity

Using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), MRI & EEG to investigate motor plasticity in stroke patients.

Computational

Models of Hearing

Modifying the outer ear and using EEG to investigate elevation-specific bidirectional hearing behaviour with additional computational analysis of event-related potentials (ERP) with Python.
